Dave Moran
As a Teaching Artist I have an educational program that teaches children, in the early grades, the main components of a story. The students then write their own stories.
Whether I'm in the classroom or doing an assembly presentation, I sing and play my guitar. I use my own original story songs as examples of stories. As an added incentive to the young students I take some of their ideas and turn them into songs. which I perform in the classroom.
I often tell the children that their story ideas can be turned into poems, or songs.
So that brings me to this collection of story poems for kids. They are all taken from the children’s own ideas that they came up with in the planning stages of their new stories. These poems are written by me using my own words and rhymes. The children’s ideas are mainly the character, the setting and the plot. I've used those ideas in the following poems.
